Bio

Pratyay Banerjee is a CS graduate student, associated as a research engineer at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. He is deeply passionate about technology and open-source ecosystems, driving breakthroughs, and sharing and learning about upcoming trends in technology and innovation.

His research focuses on the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and machine learning (ML), where he designs full-stack AI systems to assist humans with everyday tasks. This includes collecting and curating data from real users for targeted applications, creating interactive systems for embodied AI assistance, and evaluating these approaches. Besides, he has experience in misinformation detection, particularly in improving systems through knowledge transfer and interventions generated by large language models (LLMs) and behavioral economics.

Pratyay has won over 70 hackathons in the past 2.5 years and has been actively involved in open-source contributions for over four years! He is an ex-MITACS GRI fellow and has contributed to the TensorFlow organization under Google Summer of Code ‘23, as well as other notable programs such as LFX ‘21 and OSPP ‘24.

Beyond his technical pursuits, Pratyay is also a competitive e-sport gamer (CS2), a Netflix enthusiast, and an EDM fanatic.
